    Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

7_laws_of_spiritual_success_dvd As I've written before in other posts, I'm a big believer in being a life learner and never becoming complacent. I love reading, listening to podcasts, going to seminars and networking events because it not only enhances my life, but those around me as well. I'm sure most of you have seen, or at least heard of, the Secret, which some may see as corny, but I found it interesting. Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, I strongly believe in the message of the Secret in that there are unseen forces (positive-negative, yin-yang, God-Satan, or whatever you want to call it) in and around us and you can use it to work for you or against you. I chose it use it to work for me.

So when I was pitched to review Deepak Chopra's The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success DVD, I happily agreed because Deepak is someone who I enjoy and greatly respect. Sadly, I have had the DVD sitting on my desk as a constant reminder to review it for nearly two months now, and my guilt level for not getting to it increased with each passing week, so this week, I finally took the time to watch and review it.

    Is your 5-point star glowing?

Minceyann_sm_3Last Thursday I had the pleasure of spending time with Ann Mincey, vice president of Global Communications for Redken 5th Avenue NYC, a division of L'Oreal USA and the nation's second-largest manufacturer of professional hair products.

Mincey has been with Redken for more than 30 years, which these days is almost unheard of. That alone is quite impressive, especially in this era of job hopping every two or three years to advance one's career and achieve a 15-20 percent boost in salary.

I find it admirable to spend one's career with a single company, and after more than 30 years to still have the enthusiasm and passion for one's work is beyond admirable, it's inspiring. I believe that it is because of Mincey's drive to help others achieve their best and find their inner and outer beauty that Mincey finds such satisfaction and inspiration in her work. It certainly shows. Her energy, enthusiasm and sincere heart are quite moving.

Mincey's extensive career and many accomplishments have led her to her latest endeavor: A "ministry" to spread the importance of obtaining an inner beauty of optimal health, or as she puts it, to get glowing and recognize that you are a star right where you are.

If you're wondering how or why a corporate communications VP goes from communications to becoming a wellness evangelist traveling the world helping salon and spa professionals discover inner beauty and a healthier life, it's actually quite simple and a natural step. Why not encompass both outer and inner beauty to help not only Redken's employees, but the entire salon and spa industry.

Mincey's Get Glowing program is all about transforming yourself through self-discovery, and learning how to make the most of your gifts, talents, and personality, and in-turn experience a richer, healthier and fuller life.

    The Secret 30-Day Challenge

Secret_movie_sm Now that Larry King and Oprah have both recently featured the Secret on their shows, it's creating quite the buzz; and buzz that's well deserved. Rhonda Byrne, producer of the Secret, has brought us a well produced film that features some of the greatest personal development gurus around today. I first heard about the Secret right before it was released in March 2006 and watched it shortly thereafter. I absolutely loved it.

I'm a strong believer in being a life learner and never becoming complacent. The Secret's concepts weren't new to me nor was "the secret" itself, which is the law of attraction. Even though the information wasn't new to me, it was definitely good to get a refresher on it, and hear all the wisdom that is offered in the Secret.

The material in the film is produced and delivered in a very compelling manner that moves you into action and reminds you to "mind your mind," which can be very challenging. It takes work on a daily basis, and if you can master it, you will not only have a life of harmony, but you will achieve your goals and manifest your dreams into reality.

Ok, now for the 30-day challenge. I received an email a few days ago from Andy Wibbels (if you don't know Andy and are a newbie to blogging and want to start your own blog, but don't know how, he's your guy!) that had in the subject line: Skeptical About 'The Secret'? Since I love the Secret, I couldn't resist opening it and reading what Andy had to say about it. He had a great idea to challenge ourselves (or not) and put the Secret in action.
