pinkMOXIE is a personal blog by Miiko Mentz with musings and rants on career, culture, community, motherhood, health, beauty, spas, work-life balance and more.
The “pink” in pinkMOXIE is symbolic for fun and playfulness, and the “moxie” in pinkMOXIE is because we as women have faced difficulty and demands in an unforgiving and challenging world with dignity, grace, spirit and courage. Sometimes we get it right and other times we fall flat on our faces, but we get up, dust ourselves off and forge ahead.
Unfortunately, this blog is not an active blog where there are three to four posts per day. I wish I had the time to do that, but this blog is simply for fun and I only have time to write once or twice a month and some months not at all.
I welcome comments, suggestions, tips or great new products/services that will make our lives a little sweeter and easier, because at the end of the day it's all about being in love with your life! Thanks for stopping by and checking out pinkMOXIE. If you want to know more about me, read the section below.
Enjoy, I'm a woman who once lived a carefree, spontaneous and fun-loving life, but somewhere along the way I morphed into a stressed-out workaholic who never had time for herself. So, I set out to change that and have since found balance and harmony. I'm enjoying the wonderful connections I have recently made with other women who had experienced the same and are returning to their authentic selves and living a more balanced, fun-loving life. Because at the end of the day, it's all about being in love with your life. I've lived most of my life in California, with much of it in the San Francisco Bay Area and a few years in Los Angeles. I now split my time between Silicon Valley and the Valley of the Sun (also known as the Greater Phoenix area). I love the rich culture, high energy and perfect weather of the SF Bay Area (especially the summers); but at the same time, I love the serenity and relaxation (and amazing spas) that the Valley of the Sun offers, not to mention the great weather from October through June. I have had many incarnations. I spent most of my youth studying dance (ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap) and performing in dance concerts and musical theater; and I spent a crazy amount of time helping with promotions (I guess I was destined to do PR) at KSJO-FM, a rock music station back in the day (during the KSJO-KOME rivalry days) with the likes of the late (and wonderful) Tawn Mastrey, Larry 'Baby Lee Roy' Hansen, Paul 'Lobster' Wells and many others; and of course going to rock concerts with my best friend, Trina (who still hangs out with rock stars). Dance and music were my life back then, and today, they are still two things I'm very passionate about. I had a brief career as a dancer in my late teens and early 20s (that's the LA portion of my life). But hung up my dance shoes for a more stable career in communications. I've spent the last 14 years in communications working in educational and corporate video production and television, marketing communications, and public relations, with much of it in the technology industry. Documentaries and videography are two (of many) passions of mine, so I love all the new technology that is sprouting up with "Web 2.0" because its fueling the growth of online video. It's a very exciting time and it will be interesting to see where it all leads. Well, that's a little about me. I hope you enjoy pinkMOXIE. Be in love with your life!
