1. The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage.
3. Skill; know-how
pinkMOXIE is my personal blog where I share my personal thoughts, opinions and rants on career, culture, community, motherhood, dance, music, health, beauty, spas, and other musings.
The “pink” in pinkMOXIE is symbolic for fun and playfulness, and the “MOXIE" is because as a woman (and a single-mom for many years) I faced difficulty and demands in an unforgiving and challenging world with dignity, grace (most of the time), spirit and courage. Sometimes I get it right and other times I fall flat on my face, but I always get up, dust myself off and forge ahead.
This blog is simply for fun. I only post here when I have a little free time, which is usually once a month and some months not at all.
I welcome comments, suggestions, tips or great new products/services that will make our lives a little sweeter and easier, because at the end of the day it's all about being your best and creating a life that you love. Thanks for stopping by and checking out pinkMOXIE. If you want to know more about me, read the section below.
NOTE: I reserve the right to delete or edit out any hateful, defamatory or other inappropriate comments as I see fit, including links in comments.
DISCLOSURE: On occasion I will blog about a cause, product or event that may include a client/partner/company of mine and in those cases I will disclose that information in the post, except in the cases where I'm contractually not allowed to disclose the working relationship/arrangement, which is rare.
I'm a woman who once lived a carefree, spontaneous and fun-loving life, but somewhere along the way I morphed into a workaholic with an out-of-balanced life and am working to find balance once again. But I must admit that it's not easy when you're in social media marketing because the Social Web never sleeps and it's up to me to unplug from time to time.
I've lived most of my life in California, with much of it in the San Francisco Bay Area and a few years in Los Angeles. I used to split my time between Silicon Valley and the Valley of the Sun (aka Phoenix), but now I bounce between Las Vegas and Phoenix with a few trips to the Bay Area thrown in the mix.
I love the rich culture, high energy and perfect weather of the SF Bay Area (especially the summers); but at the same time, I love the serenity and relaxation that the Valley of the Sun offers, not to mention the great weather from October through June. And in Vegas, it's all about The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas! What's there not to love?! It's amazing and a must-experience!
I have had many incarnations. I spent most of my youth studying dance (ballet, contemporary/modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop...the latter two were not my strengths but I knew just enough to get by in an audition) and performing in dance concerts and musical theater. I also spent a crazy amount of time helping with promotions (I guess I was destined to do PR and promotions) at KSJO-FM, a rock music station back in the day (during the KSJO-KOME rivalry days) with the likes of the late (and wonderful) Tawn Mastrey, Larry 'Baby Lee Roy' Hansen, Paul 'Lobster' Wells and many others; and of course going to rock concerts with my best friend, Trina (who still hangs out with rock stars).
Dance and music were my life back then, and today, they are still two things I'm very passionate about. I had a brief career as a dancer in my late teens and early 20s (that's the LA portion of my life). But I hung up my dance shoes for a more stable career in communications.
I've spent the last 20 years in communications working in educational and corporate video production and television, marketing communications, public relations, and more recently, social media marketing. Well, that's a little about me. I hope you enjoy pinkMOXIE.
